Good Morning Gov. Nixon,
I understand you’re a busy man, but I just wanted to drop you a quick note this morning to ask you to please strongly consider vetoing SB 113.
It’s completely outrageous that the elected officials in the Missouri House & Senate have overruled the will of the people and shown such a blatant disregard for the democratic system.
Let’s not pretend we don’t all know that this is really about a few elected officials trying to satisfy the large agricultural interests that fund their election campaigns.
It really is about doing what is ethical and honoring our responsibility to protect innocent lives – and yes, dogs count. They’re not a commodity. They’re not a product. And they deserve basic access to clean water, adequate food, medical care and enough space to move freely. It’s not rocket science and it’s not too much to ask.
I fully understood my vote last November, as I’m certain everyone else who showed up at the polls to speak out against Missouri’s shameful reputation as the “Puppy Mill Capital of the Nation” did as well.
Please honor the will of the electorate and veto SB 113.
Mrs. Kelsey XXX
